TruFit Athletic Clubs - Ed Carey

A Call for Reinstating Andrew Martinez TruFit embodies cleanliness, organization, and an inviting atmosphere, making it a gym many would feel comfortable in. However, my recent experience has left me disheartened. Andrew Martinez, the fitness manager and an exceptional personal trainer, was unjustly dismissed due to a Covid-19 policy. Andrew, a dedicated and passionate individual, showcased an unwavering commitment to fitness and inspiring his clients. His leadership in assembling a stellar team for the personal training wing of this regional gym reflected his dedication to TruFit's mission. More than a professional, Andrew exuded values of family and care, extending support to his brother dealing with health issues and aiding his family in various ways. The sudden termination blindsided Andrew, an employee with an unblemished record, devoid of any prior issues. A company's essence lies in the treatment of its personnel. TruFit's decision not only affects Andrew's livelihood but also reflects poorly on the organization's commitment to its employees. It's disheartening to witness such lack of regard for someone so passionate about the company he represented. It is my hope the management of TruFit reconsider this decision, and reinstate Andrew Martinez. Upholding respect, dignity, and fairness should align with the core values of any reputable organization. Andrew's expertise, dedication, and character make him an asset worth retaining. I do not typically write reviews, but I found this too unjust and people and companies should not treat one another with such lack of integrity.

The up selling point of this gym is the adequate equipment to choose from to some extent. From dumbells to barbells(my personal preference from 5lb to 100lbs), Smith machines, treadmills, bicycles, medicine balls, mats, exc. As far as bathroom and locker rooms are concerned. They're generally overall clean and there's enough resources throughout the place to clean your workout station too. There's also a water fountain to hydrate from, which isn't filtered. Unless you don't mind tap water. Did I forget to mention the monthly rate? Pretty reasonable. Now with that type of attraction it brings a horde of people! I would advise going either really early or late or if you're flexible. The wee hours where majority are at work or school. The problem with some many members is it goes from adequate to limited. Good luck getting the incline bench, cable machine. They're generally the popular ones. Maybe if there was an additional incline bench. It would resolve the queue. Now here's my pet peeve in comparison to the other gym...lack of gym etiquette amongst the members. You see some dumbells and weight plates scattered throughout the gym. They're not even re re-racked. I don't blame the staff but rather fellow gym members.

Been training in this gym over a year and have brought to the attention of the staff that people use multiple machines for extended periods of time (over an hour). Also they bring multiple bags and leave them all over the gym floor. This gyms weight training area is somewhat limited in terms of mostly having 1 machine, maybe 2 of each and some people put their bags and dumbbells on multiple machines and this is also not addressed by the staff.

I signed up in December and paid for 3 personal training sessions. After MONTHS almost a YEAR of attempting to contact a trainer with Trufit I have still not been able to meet with a trainer. Their trainer sessions program is apparently just a scam to get money from otherwise paying clients. Also this was probably the dirtiest gym I’ve ever been to. Paper towels and trash everywhere clients and employees alike do not care.

One lat pull-down cable machine, one single cable station and one double cable station, one assist pull-up/dip machine, one leg press, one hack squat… all hot spots of a gym and only one… get used to changing your workout a lot to get out on time for work if you go early…. Gym members great… mostly everyone wipes down and is courteous, staff is great…. But the limited number of popular equipment really makes this gym hard to use if you’re in a hurry… tru fit needs more locations in Harlingen and copy some of the gyms they have in Edinburg/McAllen.
